Youth Winter Retreat 2019
Hello My Name Is….
These are the names- the lies-that students are told daily. So many students allow the world to define them, instead of allowing God to refine them. He has created His perfect masterpieces, but there have been so many layers of identities built up over time that seeing that masterpiece is difficult. The focus of Winter Retreat this year was to battle for students’ true identity.
I am grateful for the 50 students we had on Winter Retreat this year! Not many youth ministers can say their first retreat started with a tornado warning. However, that did not stop us nor did any other bump in the road, whether it be weather or anything else Satan tried to throw at us, God was going to be worshiped.
Students were challenged during this weekend to claim a new name. A name found in Christ. A name that nobody can ever take from them. We started the weekend with writing down names that were lies, and that have been told to us for far too long. During the weekend the students put those names at the front and some even shredded them up. At the end of the weekend, they wrote down a new name. One that comes from Christ and fully aligns with being a child of the one true king!
I could not be more proud of each and every student that attended. I wish each of you could have experienced the Holy Spirit’s presence during the weekend. This weekend we claimed victory and freedom! Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Now that students know they are God’s handiwork, they have been sent out to do the good works which God has prepared for us to do!
I am already planning for Winter Retreat 2020! Make sure when sign ups go live, you don’t miss out on this weekend!
